Building Bridges of Hope
And I learned early in my life that only two things protected America, the grace of Almighty God and the United States Military. It was that way then, it is that way now and will forever be that way as long as America remains a free and sovereign nation.”
Our Story
The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP) is a not-for-profit organization that assists other not-for-profits in securing funds to help causes that benefit veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
The organization was co-founded in 2014 by the late country music legend Charlie Daniels and his manager, David Corlew. Board members include Corlew, Major General Terry “Max” Haston (retired) and most recently in 2020, Hazel Daniels. Conscious of the need to assist our nation’s veterans, TCDJHP partners with organizations that do the most good, with the least overhead.
Working in tandem with these organizations, TCDJHP is making a difference in the lives of American patriots.

Our Mission
The mission of The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project is to help identify the most comprehensive programs available to returning veterans and oversee the implementation of these. Our mission is to support the return, rehabilitation, and reintegration back to civilian life. We owe them an unpayable debt of gratitude.
This process has become generational…
After many years of service, and for some, multiple deployments and missions, the journey home can be a complex process based on the issues of being away from family, friends, and community. Physical, and mental wellness, counseling, education, and employment are just a few of the many issues both returning vets and families face.
With many years of experience working with various foundations that provide this type of support, our goal is to identify the best of the best, to not only be good stewards of donated dollars but to seek the best assistance available for our veterans. It is a critical mission that needs every American that enjoys the freedoms we share, to participate. They’ve earned it.
Stewardship
At the Journey Home Project, we started by supporting a few carefully chosen organizations in the wake of 9/11, driven by Charlie Daniels’ deep patriotism and commitment to our veterans and first responders. Over time, we noticed that some of these organizations faced challenges like misspending, and we knew we had to take a more hands-on approach. We felt a strong responsibility to ensure that every dollar raised in Charlie’s name was used effectively and wisely, so we decided to establish our own foundation. This allows us to personally oversee the distribution of funds and provide transparency to our donors, ensuring that we can report back with confidence about where the money goes.
We are dedicated to continually seeking out and monitoring organizations that make a real difference in the lives of veterans and first responders. Our mission is to support the return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of these heroes into civilian life. By staying small and focused, we’ve been able to act as a quick response team, carefully selecting and empowering organizations that truly understand and address the unique needs of those who have served. We believe that by thoughtfully stewarding the resources entrusted to us and showing genuine care, we can have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
